Giovanni Sala, is a legend of the dirt, he had the world shifting gears and buckling up as he rose up to become Italy’s most beloved enduro rider. He won 5 titles and has 46 wins under his belt while competing for 8 years in the World Championship.
Giovanni spent 5 years riding in the 250cc category and 1999, he stepped up to the 400cc class for a season leading to one of his sweetest wins yet. Taking his fifth and final title of his sporting career.
He is known for winning an impressive 5 titles. He was titled as the World champion in 1993, 994,1995, 1998 and 1999. His first four wins were in the 250cc category and his last win in the 400cc category. All wins with KTM. His incredible career has solidified his status as one of the greatest enduro riders of all time.
Hold on to your helmet, as we introduce Mario Rinaldi, enduro is pumping through his blood. He grew up in the Lombardy region of Italy, which is also home to Enduro legend, Giovanni Sala. Both Sala and Rinaldi started participating in the sport at early age, they were rivals but also best of friends and together they made the KTM team powerful in the World Championship.
Mario spent his final sporting career years with Yamaha and Husaberg. He was finishing his competitive career in 2005 with an impressive 4 World Championship titles, winning in 1992, 1994, 1997 and 2000. His first 3 wins in the 350cc category and his final win in the 400cc category, all wins with KTM.
After retiring from racing, he continued to seek the adrenaline rush, he opened the Mario Rinaldi Enduro Academy, helping to bring through the next generation of talent
Kari Tiainen has been established as a true fans favourite from Finland. His journey to becoming a Dirt Biking Legend began with his career in motocross in 1989, when he then switched to Enduro and won his first title with Suzuki just one year after this switch!
Over his career, he won a staggering 7 titles. He won 7 titles not only with Suzuki but also with KTM and Husqvarna. He dominated the sport by winning 77 victories in his sporting career.
Kari won 7 World Championships, in the 250cc and 500cc categories. He won in 1990,1991,1992,1994,1995,1997 and 2000. An impressive 7 wins in his 10 year sporting career. His achievements have not only set records but have also inspired countless fans and aspiring riders around the world.
Often known as the “Fast Eddy” Paul Edmondson, is considered to be one of the world’s most influential riders in the history of Dirt Biking. He won a European title and 4 World Championships with 3 different manufacturers, this was record-breaking and solidified his status as one of the greatest riders in the history of the sport.
A key moment in Paul Edmondson’s career, was when he signed with Gas Gas– A motorcycle manufacturing brand, in Spain specialising in off-road and trail bikes. He moved to Spain and brought expert knowledge, methods and techniques which became internationally recognised. His contributions are highly respected in the Spanish Enduro World, as they are viewed as the foundations of the popularity and success of Enduro in Spain.
He won an impressive 4 World Championships, all in the 125cc category. He won his titles in 1990 with KTM, 1993 with Husqvarna, 1994 with Gas Gas and in 1996 with Gas Gas.
Known as the most decorated Swedish Enduro rider in the history of the sport, Anders Eriksson was a strong competitor in the 500cc category, often competing against Tiainen and together they produced some of the most significant duels seen in the 1990s enduro scene!
He won a staggering 7 titles in his career, however, in 2005 he had a crash in Finland which put a sudden break on his career. He joined BMW for his final season before retiring and he was a great help when it came to developing their new bike.
He won titles in the 350cc, 400cc and 500cc categories, making him a versatile rider! He won World Championships in 1995 and 1996 with Husaberg. He won in 1998,1999,2001,2002 and 2003 with Husqvarna.
The debate on who the greatest Dirt Biker of all time is will likely continue for many years to come.
