Deep inland from the coast lies a side of Bali that most travellers never get to see: an untouched wilderness of dense bamboo groves, steep clay climbs, and natural riverbeds. Welcome to Jungle Tabanan, one of the most raw, immersive riding experiences on the island.
Get ready for a real off-road adventure through deep mud, slick clay and natural river crossings, with sections overlooking Jatiluwih, part of Bali’s UNESCO-listed Subak cultural landscape.
The Jungle Tabanan trail covers 40 to 55 kilometres through some of the most untouched terrain in the Tabanan region. Unlike the open, sweeping lines of our Kintamani Black Lava trail or Beach Tabanan trail, the jungle is tight, technical, and ever-changing.
Over the course of the ride, you’ll tackle:
The Jungle Tabanan trail is listed as intermediate to advanced, since the terrain demands real riding skills, especially during Bali’s rainy season. Riders should be comfortable with clutch and throttle control, standing on the pegs, and handling technical climbs, ruts, roots and river crossings. This is when the mud gets deeper, the rocks get slippery, and sections that felt manageable in the dry become a serious test even for experienced riders.
If you’ve already ridden the wide-open sand of our Beach Tabanan trail and feel ready to step up to tighter, more technical obstacles, the jungle is your natural next milestone. We offer flexible options to fit the trail into your schedule: choose a half-day (4 hours), full-day (8 hours), or push further with our Tabanan multi-day tour or the 7-Day Enduro Tour.
If you’re unsure whether your skills match the terrain, take a quick look at our guide on how to find your dirt bike level before locking in your dates or contact us directly through WhatsApp.
Here is how a full-day jungle expedition unfolds from start to finish:
We start the journey at our Bali Dirt Bikes Basecamp. There, you’ll get fully kitted out with safety gear before you ride and matched to the right bike from our fleet of KTM, Beta and Kawasaki based on your size and level. The guides run the briefing, trail etiquette, safety tips, and what to expect, and then? You go!
The trail eases you in with some open ground before the canopy closes in and the real riding begins. From there, it’s roots, rocks, river crossings, and dense jungle tracks that demand constant focus. The guide sets the pace at the front, the sweep guide keeps the group together at the back. Solo or with a crew, nobody gets left behind.
Around midday, the group stops for lunch at Warung Lumbung, a local warung right in the middle of Bali’s rice fields. Local food, cold drinks, and one of those views that makes you stop mid-bite just to look around.
The afternoon pushes you into the most technical sections of the route. Tighter corners, steeper drops, deeper mud. By this point you’ve likely found your rhythm and the riding gets noticeably more confident. This is where the trail really delivers.
If you’re in for the full-day tour, you’ll end your day with a sunset ride on the beach. After hours in the jungle, the trail opens up onto the black sand coastline of Tabanan for a sunset ride along the water’s edge. The Indian Ocean on your left, the last of the day’s light on the horizon. It’s the perfect way to close out a full day on the bike.
The jungle is fun yet demanding. Here are five essential ways to prepare mentally and physically before hitting the trail:
The Jungle Tabanan trail is the kind of ride that changes how you think about Bali. Hidden landscapes, raw terrain, local culture, adventure. And our team is ready to take you there.
Pick your date, bring your crew, and we’ll take care of the rest.
